Embracing change

This is a picture of Meg Taylor and me at the Wytheville District's "Day Apart Training"at Fort Chiswell United Methodist Church on Nov. 21. A total 288 laity and clergy attended the training event, with about 65 attending my own class. The church was overflowing with people even though they have completed their addition!

The name of my session (one of eight classes) was "Crafting Sermons for Changing Times." The unique thing was that I began by allowing them to ask questions about preaching. The question topics ranged from today's lack of emphasis on the reality of hell to my personal preparation for preaching. I had a great time and wish I could have had more time to spend there. The day's theme was "Embracing Change."
