Nothing But Nets
Missions
$10 is all it takes to buy a bed net and save a life. It's that easy.
Jesus Christ calls us to "minister to the least of these who are members of our family" (Matthew 25). The children of Africa need you to help stop the spread of malaria. Purchasing bed nets is an easy way for individuals to make a difference in combating this preventable disease. The people of The United Methodist Church have joined hands with the United Nations Foundation, NBA Cares, Sports Illustrated and other organizations to support Nothing But Nets, a global grassroots campaign to save lives by preventing malaria. The United Methodist Church has been in mission across Africa for more than 160 years, and our commitment to preventing malaria makes Nothing But Nets a natural partner for us.
In Holston, through a partnership led by the Conference Council on Youth Ministries, the Children’s Ministries Team, and the Missions Team, we have set a goal for Holston people to provide 20,000 nets. If each Holston church contributed enough nets for all its children and youth on its rolls, we would almost double this goal. We can slam dunk our goal and save lives!

Send a net. Save a life. You can save a life by making a $10 donation at www.umc.org/nets or through the UMC’s General Board of Global Ministries Advance #982015. Mail checks to: Advance #982015, Holston Project #560, Holston Conference, P.O.Box 850, Alcoa, TN 37701. It’s that easy.
A $10 donation goes directly toward the purchase, distribution, and education about the proper use of an insecticide-treated bed net. That doesn’t sound like much, right? And what’s more, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will match each donation, net for net. Most people in sub-Saharan Africa live on less than $1 a day and cannot afford a life-saving bed net. The next time you have $10 in your pocket, how will you use it? Stop malaria from scoring! We can beat this disease and save future generations. So give a child the opportunity to be healthy. Pray. Communicate the need. Buy a bed net. And save a life.
The conference Youth Ministries office will maintain data on our goal. As your church contributes to the cause, please email us at umyouth@holstonyouth.com to let us know of our collective progress. For more info on our Holston effort, visit www.holstonyouth.com.
