Foundation awards $47,654 in grants to 21 groups

Holston Conference Foundation awarded a total $47,654 to recipients of three different grants in 2012, the Foundation recently announced.

Fourteen groups, including First Pearisburg UMC in Tazewell District and Appalachia Service Project based in Johnson City, received Margaret Loving Grants for older adult ministries. More than $45,000 was requested by applicants; the Foundation awarded $29,914.

Five groups, including Mount Moriah Parish Ministry and Bookwalter UMC in Knoxville, received Evelyn Webb Henson Youth Grants. Applicants requested $36,450; the Foundation awarded $13,240.

Two groups -- Mafair UMC in Kingsport and Wesley Memorial UMC in Johnson City -- received Redwine Grants for new or emerging ministries. Applicants requested $29,850 in funding; the Foundation awarded $4,500.
