Alcoa office closure extended to January 4

ALCOA, Tenn. -- An initial two-week closure of the Alcoa Conference Center has been extended until after the holidays.

In a Nov. 30 email to conference staff, the Rev. Tim Jones announced the office building would remain closed until Jan. 4.

"After seeing the COVID-19 numbers at a record high and realizing Thanksgiving gatherings could cause these numbers to rise even higher, the Executive Team has decided to keep the Conference Center closed until Jan. 4," said Jones, communications director.

The headquarters for Holston Conference business was expected to reopen Nov. 30, after the building was closed Nov. 12 when a staff member tested positive for coronavirus.

"Essential business will continue at the Conference Center, but all other business should be conducted from your home," Jones said in the staff email. "If you are needed at the Conference Center during this closure, your director will reach out to you."
