Holston churches are to be commended for their giving to churchwide Special Sundays in 2010, Bishop James Swanson said. The conference office recently received recognition from the denomination for giving to:

GREAT BLACK CHURCHES: AUG. 5-6
The African American Ministry Team will present "Great Black Churches: Foundations for Growth" Aug. 5-6 at Lennon-Seney United Methodist Church in Knoxville. The event will focus on the themes of "Rethink, Relaunch, Renew, Revise" and will feature plenary leaders Dr. Teresa Fry Brown and Dr. Harold Lewis.
