Bishop Wills to retire Sept. 1

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UMNS) — Bishop Richard J. Wills, whose area includes the Memphis and Tennessee Annual (regional) Conferences, plans to retire Sept. 1, 2011. He is retiring under provisions of the 2008 Book of Discipline, the United Methodist law book, which says a bishop may seek “retirement for health reasons.”
