KITCHENS RECEIVE HIGH MARKS

Three out of three isn’t bad at all. Holston Conference Camp and Retreat Ministries are celebrating the news that all three of the camp kitchens received 100 scores from their local health departments.

“Our camp kitchens usually get high scores but I don’t recall when they’ve all received 100,” said the Rev. Randy Pasqua, executive director. “It’s a sign that everybody’s working hard.”

Pasqua sends congratulations to the food service managers: Danette Brown at Camp Lookout in Rising Fawn, Ga.; Diana Raggett at Camp Wesley Woods in Townsend, Tenn.; and Becky Jones at Camp Dickenson in Fries, Va.

Three weeks are left in the summer camp season and openings still exist, Pasqua said. Register at HolstonCamping.com.

SAY GOODBYE TO BUFFALO MOUNTAIN

A decommissioning service for Buffalo Mountain Camp will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, July 9, at the camp at 234 Methodist Camp Road, Jonesborough, TN 37659. Tolling of the bell, s'mores, worship, communion, testimonies, and a time of sharing will fill the evening.

NEW KINGSPORT CAMP

Work on the new camp at Bays Mountain has begun with the hiring of an architect/designer and the pending hire of a capital funding campaign firm.

A “Meet and Greet” has been scheduled for the new director, Jeff Wadley, at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 26, at Colonial Heights United Methodist Church in Kingsport.

Holston members are also invited to help name the new camp. Between now and July 26, send your suggestions to Wadley at hikewithjeff@gmail.com or share with him during the reception on July 26.
