Open house scheduled for Connexion on May 12

ALCOA, Tenn. (May 10, 2018) – The Rev. Rusty Taylor invites Annual Conference members to an Open House at The Connexion in Sevierville this Saturday, May 12, from 2 to 4 p.m.

The Connexion is the building and property leased by Holston Conference in 2016. The Annual Conference will vote on whether to purchase the site during its June 10-13 meeting.

“Please come and see the opportunity and get answers to any questions you may have,” Taylor said during a message that has been shared through the Holston website, email and social media. Taylor is director of congregational development and church revitalization.

In addition, Taylor said that he and the Rev. Jason Roe have written answers to the "Top 10 Questions about The Connexion." Roe is a general evangelist who has been appointed as manager of The Connexion.

The “Top 10 Questions” list is being distributed at Pre-Conference Briefings happening in Holston’s nine districts, Taylor said. (Download Top 10 Questions.)

The first Pre-Conference Briefing occurred in the Tennessee Valley District on May 6 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Knoxville. About 90 people attended and asked questions following Roe’s presentation about The Connexion.

Roe and Taylor will also make presentations about The Connexion in the eight Pre-Conference Briefings scheduled May 20 and June 3 throughout Holston. Annual Conference members are encouraged to attend these briefings to learn more about The Connexion and other topics related to the June 10-13 meeting in Lake Junaluska, N.C.

See Pre-Conference Briefing schedule.

Additional information about The Connexion, including finance details and mission possibilities, is published in the Congregational Development report in the Book of Reports.

A promotion and video about The Connexion will be presented to the Annual Conference during the Monday morning session of Annual Conference on June 11. At 12:30 p.m. on June 11, members are invited to a Chat Room to ask more questions at the Susan Todd Lounge in Harrell Center.

The Annual Conference is scheduled to vote on the purchase decision for The Connexion on Tuesday morning, June 12, in Lake Junaluska.
