The Holston Conference delegation met Nov. 9 to continue its work of preparing for General Conference in May 2020 and Southeastern Jurisdictional Conference in July 2020.
The primary work of delegates to Southeastern Jurisdictional Conference is the election of bishops. The Holston delegation had joined in a process of discerning potential nominees for the episcopacy. In September, the delegation invited eligible clergy to communicate their interest in being considered.
At the Nov. 9 meeting in White Pine, Tennessee, delegates met with and interviewed potential nominees for bishop.
After discussion, discernment and prayer, the Holston Conference delegation has decided not to put forth or endorse a nominee for bishop in the 2020 election.
The delegation wishes to thank those who submitted nominee names, those who joined the Nov. 9 meeting, and all who participated in this process.
The next meeting of the delegation is scheduled for January. Share your concerns and questions by emailing delegation@holston.org.
