Ebola leads to changes in Holston's annual collection of supplies for Liberia

Ebola leads to changes in Holston's annual collection of supplies for Liberia

October 1, 2014

Holston Conference Churches and Members:

After further conversation with Helen Roberts-Evans in Liberia, we are making some adjustments to the Hands-On Mission Project assignments for 2015.

Our supplies arrived in Liberia at the beginning of the Ebola outbreak and the health kits went directly to the hospital and were greatly appreciated. After witnessing this need being met in such an immediate way, Helen is going to work with the government there to change the regulations that were going to inhibit our ability to get the health kits and food buckets into Liberia next year. That being said, we are adjusting some of the district assignments for the 2015 Hands-On Mission Project so that we will continue to send these items along with the school kits.

The districts that are changing are Abingdon, Big Stone Gap, Cleveland, and Morristown.

* Abingdon is moving from food buckets for Zimbabwe to health kits for Liberia.

* Big Stone Gap is moving from school kits for Liberia to health kits for Liberia.

* Cleveland is moving from food buckets for Zimbabwe to food buckets for Liberia.

* Morristown is moving from school kits for Liberia to food buckets for Liberia.

If you have already collected items that were previously listed, please send them on collection day.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we try to respond to an ever-changing situation in Liberia as they deal with the repercussions of the Ebola outbreak. If you have any questions please feel free to call the Missions office.
