Medical team members needed for May trip to Guatemala

MARYVILLE, Tenn. (April 3, 2015) -- Fairview United Methodist Church and Samaritan Hands Ministries request additional medical team members to join mission trip to Guatemala in May.

The Volunteers in Mission team will travel May 23-31 to do medical mission, vacation bible school, and construction at Hogar del Nino, according to Kari Roy, who is organizing the trip with Rev. Jerry Russell.

"We are in need of an emergency room M.D., general practitioner, pharmacist, and possibly one more nurse for our trip," Roy said.

Team members are from Holston Home for Children, State Street United Methodist Church, Keith Memorial United Methodist Church, and Fountain City United Methodist Church as well as Fairview, Roy said.  "Fountain City and Powell UMC are each planning follow-up trips in June to continue the work."

Potential team members should contact Roy at (865) 296-1155 or kariroy.samaritanhands@gmail.com or call Russell at (865) 983-2080.

"This will be one of the biggest teams we have ever taken to Guatemala, and we are excited about the wonderful ways the Lord is working to help us serve his neediest people," Roy said.
