Holston Annual Conference endorses David Graves as bishop nominee

The Holston Annual Conference endorsed the Rev. David Graves as an episcopal nominee on June 11 during their 2012 session at Lake Junaluska Assembly.

The endorsement follows last fall's unanimous endorsement of Graves by the Holston delegation to General and Jurisdictional Conferences. On June 11, annual conference members representing 897 churches stood to applaud Graves, then joined in prayer for his leadership.

Graves, age 53, is currently serving as Kingsport District superintendent. On July 18-20, he will join 14 other nominees for bishop at the Southeastern Jurisdictional Conference election in Lake Junaluska.

"No matter what happens in July, it's all about winning people to Jesus Christ," Graves said.

The Holston Annual Conference is comprised of churches in east Tennessee, southwest Virginia, and north Georgia.
