You may have heard something from the Annual Conference that FUMCOR is hosting some type of meeting that will be held the year.  Well --- here's a summary of what that meeting, the Honduras Summit, is all about.

Since 2003, a working meeting has been held in the fall of each year to summarize the advances made in the GBGM Honduras Mission Initiative during the year and to coordinate plans for future years.  Various churches throughout the US have hosted the Summit, including the mega Church of Resurrection in Leawood KS who hosted the first Summit.  The key Honduras Mission Initiative representatives plus representatives of many/most of the churches that perform humanitarian mission work in Honduras will participate in the Summit.  Included in this group will be the Mission Initiative Bishop, the GBGM Latin American Executive, the GBGM 'In Mission Together" Executive, the Country Director, the Superintendent of Honduras Churches, the VIM Medical and Construction Coordinators and the Southeastern Jurisdiction VIM Executive Director.  The meeting will be held starting Wednesday October 12th and run through noon on Saturday October 15th.  It is expected that over 100 individuals will participate in the Summit.  Bishop Swanson will be a featured guest and deliver the sermon at the Summit's Friday night worship service.

Anyone interested in learning more about the Summit, participating in the Summit or receiving UMVIM Team Leader Training should go to FUMCOR's web site www.fumcor,org and select the "Honduras Summit 2011' link.  This link will take you to the Summit Agenda and Registration Form as well as provide additional information about the Summit.
