In Memoriam: Roy LaDuke, Harry Tindell

CLEVELAND, Tenn. -- Roy Frank LaDuke, 83, died Oct. 13. The Rev. LaDuke was a retired local pastor in the Holston Conference who had served St. John (1984-1985), Bethel-Looney's Creek-Sulphur Springs (1985-1990), Christ First-Macedonia (1990-1992), Morgan Memorial-Ingles Chapel (1992-1994), Wytheville Circuit (1994-1996), and Amis Chapel-Elm Springs (1996-1999).

He retired in 1999 and continued to serve Norton (1999-2002), Clinchport Circuit (2002-2004), and Chestuee-Sugar Creek (2004).

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Fredna Lee Crawford LaDuke; sons: Kenneth LaDuke and wife, Roslyn, of Big Stone Gap, Va., Stanley F. LaDuke of Knoxville, and Douglas R. LaDuke of Cleveland; grandchildren: Jarred LaDuke of Cleveland, David LaDuke of Cleveland, Christy Murray of Knoxville, Jason LaDuke of Blountville, Sheri LaDuke of Johnson City, and Jeremy LaDuke of Maryville; many great-grandchildren; his first great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life was held Oct. 16 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.



HARRY TINDELL
BRISTOL, Tenn. - Harry Preston Tindell, 74, died Oct. 10 at his home. 

The Rev. Tindell was a retired elder in the Holston Conference who had served Well Springs Circuit (1961-1964), Mt. Hermon (1964-1966), Mt. Vernon-Rugby Road (1966-1967), and St. Onega Circuit as associate (1967-1968).

He attended and graduated Candler School of Theology (1969-1972), and then served Jonesville Parish as associate (1972-1974), Coeburn-South Coeburn (1974-1975), Imannuel-Bungalow (1975-1977), Baileyton Circuit (1977-1979), Galax Circuit (1979-1980), Prater Circuit (1980-1981), Mascot-Hopewell (1981-1983), St. Paul East (1983-1984), Bridgers (1984-1985), Charleston-Valley Head (1986-1989), Philadelphia-New Hope (1989-1991), West Circuit (1991-1993), Tellico Plains Circuit (1993-1994), Keywood, South Circuit (1994-2000), Nickelsville Circuit (2000-2001), and Valley Forge (2001-2002).

In 2002 he retired and continued to serve New Victory (2003-2009). He attended St. Luke United Methodist Church in Bristol, Va.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Hayes Tindell; a daughter, Sherry Tindell Johnson and husband, Van; and a brother, Ronald Tindell and wife, Linda. He also had two children by marriage, Melanie Tadlock Buhls and husband, Pete, and Greg Tadlock and wife, Tammy. His grandchildren are Kelleye Sloan Swanson and husband, Eric, Matthew Johnson, Lexie Johnson, Sarah Parks, Peter B. Buhls and Christian Tadlock. He had two great grandchildren, Evan and Cody Swanson.

A memorial service will be held Oct. 17 at St. Luke UMC with the Rev. Gale Flanary officiating. Memorial donations may be made to St. Luke UMC, 105 North Street, Bristol, VA 24201-3201.
