Jason Gattis projected to lead Maryville District

ALCOA, Tenn. (April 5, 2017) -- Bishop Mary Virginia Taylor announces the projected appointment of the Rev. Jason Gattis as Maryville District superintendent, effective July 1.

Gattis, age 43, is currently senior pastor at Seymour United Methodist Church in Seymour, Tenn., where he has served since 2012.

Past appointments include: Apison UMC, Apison, Tenn. (2001-2004); Keith Memorial UMC, associate, Athens, Tenn. (2005-2010); and Cokesbury UMC, associate, Knoxville, Tenn. (2011-2012).

He has a bachelor’s degree in business finance from Birmingham-Southern College, Birmingham, Ala. (1996) and a master’s degree in divinity from Emory University Candler School of Theology, Atlanta (2004). Before entering into ministry, he was a consumer banking officer for AmSouth Bank (now Regions Bank).

His wife is Amy Whedbee Gattis. They have three children. 

Gattis follows the Rev. Charles Maynard, Maryville District superintendent since 2010. Maynard’s next projected appointment will be announced later, Taylor said.

The Maryville District includes 63 churches.
