KINGSPORT, Tenn. (Dec. 19, 2015) -- A Kingsport church spread a little Christmas spirit to its community. The Shades of Grace United Methodist congregation held its first annual Christmas party.
Santa showed up in a fire engine to visit everyone. There was face painting, live music, and gifts for all the kids.
The congregation opened about a year ago. Pastor Will Shewey wants kids to know this is a safe place for them to be in downtown Kingsport.
"There's a lot of addiction, a lot of homelessness in the downtown area so we're trying to be a bright spot on this corner and this part of Sullivan Street to bring more life into the downtown," Shewey said.
