Burks knitters receive $500 to 'create comfort for community'

HIXSON, Tenn. (July 17, 2017) --  At a church in Hixson, there's a small group of women making a big difference in the lives of medical patients in Chattanooga.

Their creations are colorful and comfortable. The goal is to help complete strangers in their time of need.

But what's even more remarkable, is how their type of needle actually brings comfort to children in the hospital.

What starts as a ball of yarn and a couple of hooks, ends up a magnificent masterpiece.

"I just love these ladies," says former Knit Wits member Judy Everett.

The Knit Wit group at Burks United Methodist Church is on a mission.
