PULASKI, Va. (Sept. 23, 2016) -- Upon the 15th anniversary of 9/11, the congregations of Belspring, Rockford, and Morgan’s Chapel United Methodist Churches in the Wytheville District of the Holston Conference honored local first responders with an appreciation dinner on Sept.18.
he personnel and families of Fairlawn and Twin Community Fire Departments, EMTs, Pulaski County Sheriff’s Deputies, and Regional Emergency Medical Services were recognized for service to their communities in challenging and often life threatening jobs. The event was well attended, though some were unable to attend due to various emergencies across the county.
In 2015 we offered a similar event with approximately 50 personnel and families joining us. As a church community we hope to inspire, support, and encourage our first responders as they continue to risk their lives for others. We offer sincere thanks for their dedication and service.
The Rev. Ginny Tompkins is pastor of the New River Circuit, which includes Belspring, Rockford, and Morgan's Chapel.
