Holston retirees can disregard health-insurance mailing

ALCOA, Tenn. (Feb. 16, 2016) – Are you a Holston Conference retiree enrolled in the Medicare supplement?

Ken Luton wants you to know that you received a particular mailing from Blue Cross Blue Shield by mistake, and that your health insurance through Holston Conference is alive and well.

The message is for about 500 retirees who erroneously received “PhysicianNow” information, said Luton, Holston pensions and health insurance administrator.

“At the first of the year, our health-plan participants received a mailing from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee announcing a new program called ‘PhysicianNow,’” Luton said. “This is a program that enables covered individuals to call a toll-free number, talk to a medical doctor about minor ailments, and receive diagnosis.”

Holston retirees enrolled in Holston’s Medicare supplement are not eligible for “PhysicianNow,” Luton said. He doesn’t want those who call the toll-free number to be unnecessarily alarmed when they learn that they are ineligible because they are on a different kind of program.

"Our Medicare participants can be assured their coverage remains consistent with what they have had in the past," he said.

Holston retirees will also receive a mailing that explains the error, Luton said.
