Creator God, you have created us to love our brothers and sisters. As we covenant with the people of Yei, Sudan, open our hearts to hear the cries of those who are in need; open our eyes to see the suffering that has been endured. Your Word tells us that we are to have a special compassion for widows and orphans. What a privilege it is for us to partner with widows and orphans who have suffered through wars and devastation unlike anything we can imagine. Give us a heart of gratitude each time we turn on a faucet and see fresh water flow; each time we flip a switch for electricity; each time we sit at the table and share a meal with family present. Help us to hear the cries of those who fight a battle of disease with every ounce of strength remaining. Someone is crying, “Come by here”; help us to not pass them by.
