Pray Now

Holston members offer prayers for peace as the nation responds to health care reform.

Dear Lord,
Help me to feel the pain of others as I journey into this Holy Week. Help me to remember that all healing comes through your nail pierced hands, Great Physician. I pray that those who suffer will discover your strength. Amen.
-- REV. WILL SHEWEY, Salem UMC, Kingsport District

Father,
What a privilege to be among your people. We honor you and praise your Word of Grace spoken from the beginning that brings order out of chaos. With crumbling walls and old orders giving way to new, how we need to live life with great expectancy. Grant to us imaginative and courageous leadership, that our rich resources may be invested in tools for life rather than implements of death. Amen.
-- REV. JEAN LAYELL, Centenary (Erwin) UMC, Johnson City District

God of Shalom,
It is your will that all people everywhere be redeemed, fed, clothed, sheltered, and healed. When we walk your path of justice, every voice will be heard, because you hear all voices. As each of us reaches for healing in the way that seems best to us, stand among us in your transcendent wisdom. Heal the breach between us. Grant us the flexibility to embrace positive change, and the wisdom to reject damaging changes that are merely disguised as progress. Lead us to Shalom, because that is where you are. These things and so many others we pray in the name of the Prince of Peace. Amen.
--REV. RUTHANNE HENLEY, Rural Retreat Circuit, Wytheville District
