Three new district superintendents will join the Cabinet, while two veteran superintendents will take new posts for the 2011-12 ministry year, Bishop James Swanson announced yesterday.
The Rev. Carol Wilson, current Maryville District superintendent, will work alongside Swanson as his executive assistant and director of communications. Wilson, age 48, follows the Rev. Ron Matthews who will retire as executive assistant.
The Rev. Charles Maynard, age 56, will follow Wilson as Maryville District superintendent. Maynard is currently serving as director of development for Camp and Retreat Ministries.
The Rev. Tom Ballard, age 54, will serve as Morristown District superintendent. Ballard is now senior pastor at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Wytheville District. The Rev. Clark Jenkins is stepping down as Morristown District superintendent on medical leave.
The Rev. Sandra Johnson, age 59, will leave her appointment at Strawberry Plains UMC in Morristown District to head the Abingdon District as its new superintendent.
Departing as Abingdon District superintendent, the Rev. Michael Hubble, age 61, will serve as Chattanooga District superintendent. Hubble follows the Rev. Fred Dearing, who will retire.
