'Time, life, and limb': Churches show appreciation to first responders

FAIRLAWN, Va. (Oct. 9, 2015) -- On Sept. 20, in honor of our first responders here in New River Valley, the congregations of the New River Circuit got together and had a celebration dinner.

Belspring, Rockford, and Morgan's Chapel United Methodist churches decided that we should appreciate those who give time, life and limb to save us during traumatic times.

With the help of Fairlawn Elementary School, these three congregations served 85 firefighters, paramedics, and police officers with their families. It was a success beyond our expectations.

The Rev. Ginny Tompkins is pastor of the New River Circuit.
