Nothing ugly about 'ugly quilts' for Johnson City homeless

Women from Edgefield United Methodist Church make bedrolls for the homeless.

By Ronnie Bowers

PINEY FLATS, Tenn. (Nov. 21, 2017) -- Since January, a group of women at Edgefield United Methodist Church have completed 100 bedrolls called “ugly quilts."

The bedrolls are given to the homeless in Johnson City. Each quilt is different and made with love. Supplies such as sheets, blankets, and fabric have never run out.

It is a blessing to occasionally hear the story of how the bedroll met a need or gave comfort. The ladies meet every Monday night to work with dedication and purpose because they know the need is great and they are called to this mission.
