KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (June 25, 2015) -- There's something about a home-cooked meal that brings comfort.
Denise Washburn knows that from cooking for her family and for Cokesbury United Methodist Church. When Cokesbury started asking for volunteers for a new ministry, Susannah's House, she knew exactly how to help.
Three days a week she spends hours preparing a hearty supper for about 30 women and their children who come here for help. The mothers are in recovery from pill addiction, and some of the babies were also born drug dependent. She doesn't make a dime.
"It just touched my heart. I'm a grandmother," Washburn said, "I thought, I can do that."
