Mountain View United Methodist Church is seeking an accompanist to participate in our music program, primarily playing piano in support of the Sunday morning service and participating in choir practice on Wednesday evening. Occasional special events (Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, etc.) will also be part of the role.
 
Basic responsibilities include the following:
1.      Play at Sunday Worship Service (10:30 am) every Sunday (10:15) throughout the year.
2.      Play at Wednesday Evening Choir Rehearsal (5 pm) throughout the year.
3.      Play as scheduled for special services, including evening Holy Week services (Thursday and Friday before Easter), Christmas Eve service, Evening Lenten services as needed, and others TBD.
4.      In execution of the responsibilities above, prepare 2-4 musical pieces per week
Skills and Qualifications desired, but not required

1. A relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, love of music and excellent piano ability
2. Knowledge of Christian worship and an understanding of church sufficient to play appropriate music for worship services.
3. Proficiency in keyboard skills including reading music, lead sheets and chord charts, as well as improvisational skills.
4. Experience as a "team player" in an organizational or business setting in order to work cooperatively with church staff, musicians, volunteers, and members. Hours: approximately 6 hours per week.

The position is compensated at $500 per month.
